Small garden design and build in Bourne

Project Brief:

Our first contact with these clients was when they asked us to install new fencing and gates. Following on from this work they enquired about our landscaping and design capabilities and subsequently asked Stuart to design a garden for them which would make the most of the small space available.
The original garden contained a tree, a shed and some paving slabs placed to create a pathway.
The couple love being outdoors and wanted to have seating options that would let them follow the sun around the garden. A new barbecue and pizza oven were also on their wish-list, which Stuart needed to allow space for within his design. They wanted to have some plants but nothing that would end up being too big for the space.

Elements of the Project:

  • Complete back garden design by Stuart
  • Laying of paving in porcelain slabs ‘Eden Limestone’ fawn from Brett
  • Construction of a bespoke timber pergola over the side walkway, incorporating a louvered section to sit above the BBQ area
  • Installation of painted trellising along the side walkway as a framework for espalier fruit and fragrant climbers
  • Installation of horizontal treated softwood timber batten screening along the sides of the main garden area
  • Construction of curved raised beds with built-in timber seats, finished with a cement render
  • Erection of a vertical chamfered topped timber screen, painted in an anthracite grey to complement the window frames of the house
  • Installation of a circular hardwood decked area with natural stone sett detail surround and decorative chippings
  • Construction of a bespoke storage building built into an awkward corner angle to maximise use of the area
